Hello,

Welcome to the glorious month of February, the shortest month of the year and a perfect time to reflect on all the ways you can enrich your life and live with more heart. The name February comes from the roman festival Februa, the festival of purification, which took place on February the 15th. The name Februa came from the Latin word Februum, which means purification. I love that! Let's all take this month of February to start purifying our body, mind, and spirit.
We added almost 3,500 new subscribers to our newsletter family during January, so I would like to welcome our new members and also give a big returning welcome to all of you who have been part of our family from the start. And in January many of my subscribers (as a result of my special letter to you) also purchased my popular program Renew Your Life: Choose to Live Fully, the bestselling compendium of all my digital titles last month along with The Joy Factor, Walking on Air, and Recipes for Health Bliss. Bravo. This means that we have an entire new family of friends from around the world and, together, we are all on this path to the top of the mountain of high level wellness, happiness, and success. Cheers to you all!
Let’s use this month of February to keep our hearts open, our thoughts centered on kindness and love, and our resolve firm to rekindle our New Year’s resolutions to get in shape and create robust health. As you’ll see below, I am providing a variety of information to help you stay on the path of vitality and love. Many of the things you read will be heart-related – with suggestions on how to grow your heart, to heal, enhance, and upgrade your love life, and to revitalize your ticker. You'll learn about foods that act as aphrodisiacs, how orgasms make you younger, simple ways to create more romance in your life, and how to manifest love from the inside out. I also share with you my four "A's" for happy relationships, what the world's best lovers know that you'll want to know, too, and how to benefit from the healing power of kindness. One of my all-time favorite writers, English novelist Jane Austen, would probably concur with my thoughts on living with kindness and a tender heart. She beautifully communicated these words: "There is no charm equal to tenderness of the heart."

As in every issue, you will find suggestions for natural remedies that are an important part of my life and heart health along with specials of the month. Additionally, you will find many practical suggestions on getting more sunshine and vitamin D, a colorful food recipe everyone will love, how to warm your heart and body using an infrared sauna and alkaline water, and so much more. Together we will all transform our lives from a "spin-cycle" lifestyle to a "win-cycle" lifestyle and transmute ourselves from caterpillars to butterflies.

Thank you for visiting with me each month through my newsletters. Please share these with your family and friends. There's an easy way to do this at the bottom of this newsletter; click on the "Send to Your Friends" button. And when you become a Special Subscriber — part of my new extended family, you get the newsletters first each month, before anyone else. You are also automatically entered into my weekly drawing where I select one person to contact and offer you a FREE 90-minute consultation with yours truly. You can ask me anything you want; I will help with any health issue with you or your family. To sign up now, please click HERE. My goal with these newsletters, and the entire website, is to assist you in turning your dreams into reality and creating your very best life — physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I hope you will visit my site often to peruse the daily book quotations and daily affirmations. It only takes a minute or two to check these out and then write them down to carry with you throughout the day.

During the month of February, I keep a few vases full of bright-colored tulips, daffodils, and gerberas (three of my favorite flowers) on my kitchen counters, throughout my home, and in my office, cut from my overflowing garden. Above is a photo of one of my gardens — my tulip garden. The cheerful colors of these three flowers make me smile; they look like they are opening up to the world. When I see them each morning, throughout the day, and in the evening, they renew my courage and sense of beauty.
Think of February as a month in which to fire up your passions — both for your romantic life, but also for your own zest and ambition. The image of the tulip bulb, which starts out furled so small, but grows into an open bloom, can serve as a reminder for the bursting forth you want to bring to this month. Place a pot of tulips, in a cheering rainbow of colors, somewhere in your home, and let their bright colors bring forward your own inner flourishing.
So often we sabotage our goals and dreams with negative thinking, poor choice of words, or simply feel unworthy of living happily, successfully, and abundantly. You are the captain of your ship, the architect of your life, and the producer, director, and star of your own movie. Decide that you are going to create an Oscar-winning movie this month and become the director of 2012. And rather than producing a melodrama of pain, heartache, and tragedy, instead choose to create a wonderful romantic adventure. Don’t put any limits on your thinking. Dream BIG!
And if getting healthy and upgrading your diet is one of your goals, check out my new e-Book, The Curative Kitchen. There's a way to receive a bonus gift copy — a FREE copy of this popular book. For information on this full color, beautifully designed, health-enhancing, 97-page book, please click HERE. This e-Book contains the detailed information on the new British four-month weight loss study conducted at the University Hospital in Manchester, England. It revealed how women lost nine pounds a month just by reducing the consumption of a specific food group two days a week and the rest of the days you can eat normally. I discussed this ground-breaking study recently on the worldwide-popular radio show Coast-to-Coast AM with host George Noory. I have never had as much feedback in my life on any radio other interview I've done. The details on the study, how I adapted it for my clients and friends for even greater weight loss success, and simple ways to incorporate it in your life are contained in The Curative Kitchen.

During this delightful month of February, make a conscious choice to support your health and vitality. Step up to the plate and take your new position as the president and CEO of your body and life. When people ask you what you do or what’s your position in the world, proudly say: “I am the president and CEO of my body and life.” It’s up to you to become the master of your life and walk in the direction of your dreams and goals. Nothing is stopping you except you, as I describe in detail here: Motivation Aplenty and Turning Dreams to Reality.
Since it is probably chilly where you live at this time of year, unless you are south of the equator, I’ll feature healing benefits of taking infrared saunas near the top. This is a time-honored way to detoxify and rejuvenate the body, reduce aches and pains, and to give you that glow of vibrant health.

A Special Treat — John Denver Singing "Wandering Soul"
This is a song that was never recorded and was sung by my friend, the late John Denver. I had the good fortune to give the talk on Wellness at his "Choices for the Future" Windstar Symposium. I have listened to this song many times and it always makes me feel inspired and uplifted. Music definitely feeds the soul.
It was magnificent to hear John sing Wandering Soul in person, and it's almost as wonderful here. Its message is about how love is always the answer and will be experienced when we release our fear and move into the peace that's within us all. Take a few minutes and breathe deeply as you focus on the words and message of this glorious song. To enjoy, click HERE.

As a holistic health educator and culinary instructor, I know the importance of high-level nutrition for healing the body, looking younger, losing weight, keeping depression at bay, and having energy to spare. Many of us make the wrong choices every day by consuming foods that were never intended for our miraculous bodies. In this new book, I show you how to make the appropriate food and other lifestyle choices to reduce our risks of premature aging, heart disease, common forms of cancer, arthritis, diabetes and reduced vision and mental functions … and lose body fat at the same time.

For 25 years, I have purchased my organic sprouting seeds and supplies at the world's best Sprout store — Handy Pantry. They are now offering my new book, The Curative Kitchen, as a BONUS GIFT with any purchase at their online store of $75 or more. If you have read my series of articles on Sprouting Your Way to Vitality in the five previous newsletters or in my Blog series, you know that I have been growing sprouts in my kitchen for over 35 years; I highly recommend that you also become a kitchen gardener, too. My favorite superfood, sprouts provide a wealth of nutrients to help you bolster your energy, accelerate fat loss, and feel and look your best. All you need to do to get a FREE copy of my new book is to spend $75 or more at HandyPantry.com.

If you already have the trays or jars for sprouting, and you just need some fresh, organic sprouting seeds, I recommend that you purchase broccoli, red clover, alfalfa, and your favorite lentils. They also have a salad sprout mix and a high protein sprout mix — both of which I sprout weekly. When you spend a minimum of $75, you will get a FREE copy of my new eBook immediately. This is an offer you can't afford to miss. I encourage you to get enough seeds to last you for the year. They are easy to store and you won't run out. Get the kids involved with this simple growing process. Year-round you will have nutrient-dense, versatile, and delicious sprouts to enjoy. Sure, you could purchase them from the store, but they are much more expensive and are rarely fresh. Vegetarian Diets Fight Heart Disease & Diabetes & MORE!
Vegetarians have lower blood pressure, slimmer waistlines, and healthier blood sugar, compared with non-vegetarians, according to a study published in Diabetes Care. In 1,011 randomly selected Adventist Health Study 2 participants, the prevalence of metabolic syndrome, a cluster of disease risk factors associated with heart disease and diabetes, was lowest among vegetarians (25.2 percent), followed by semi-vegetarians (37.6 percent, and highest among non vegetarians (39.7 percent).

In a review of 206 human epidemiological studies, vegetables showed the strongest protective effect against cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, obesity, high blood pressure, and depression compared with all other beneficial foods. Unfortunately only 1 in 500 Americans cons
umes enough calories from vegetables to assure this defense. That's why the cornerstone of my heart-healthy, cancer-protective, and longevity-favorable diet is to eat as many raw and steamed vegetables as possible with an emphasis on consuming lots of fresh sprouts daily.

Stay Motivated to Exercise
Have you lost the motivation to exercise that you had the first few days of January when your New Year's resolutions were fresh in your mind? There's no doubt about it. Every person who exercises regularly, whether an athlete or not, will have to cope with lack of enthusiasm at one time or another. So how can you stay motivated to workout? "Just do it" was one of Nike's rallying slogans of the late '90s. But sometimes it can be tough to live up to. In fact, every person who decides to exercise will face—sooner or later—a lack of motivation, boredom, or burnout with a fitness program. If you would like detailed information on how to stay more motivated to exercise and achieve your fitness goals, please click HERE.
To learn more about how to stay motivated to exercise, here's a radio interview I did with talk show host Jamie Dickerman. I cover my 16 favorite motivational tips. To listen now, click HERE.
For even more inspiration to get in shape and stick with your fitness goals, you will want to read the chapters on Exercise for Life in my popular 2-book healthy living set below:
No Soda is Kind to Your Heart
Anyone who prefers diet sodas over regular soda pop for fear of high sugar levels might want to consider this: According to new research presented at the American Stroke Association's International Stroke Conference 2011, people who drink diet sodas every day still have a much higher risk of vascular disease — 61 percent higher — compared with those who drink no sodas at all.
These are the findings of the large, multi-ethnic Northern Manhattan Study of 2,564 individuals that were monitored and analyzed in terms of the types and amount of sodas they drank for an average of 9.3 years, during which 559 vascular events occurred. "If our results are confirmed with future studies, then it would suggest that diet soda may not be the optimal substitute for sugar-sweetened beverages for protection against vascular outcomes," says lead author Hannah Gardener, a doctor of science and epidemiologist at the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine.

Natural Remedies of the Month:
Hydrate Your Body & Warm Up Your Life with Two of My Favorites
Infrared Sauna: For thousands of years, saunas have been enjoyed worldwide for the relaxing benefits they provide through rendered heat within a warm, welcoming space. From the Romans to the Japanese to the Scandinavians, heat therapy has been essential for the body to unwind from daily stress. Sweating is not only an important part of our physical well-being, but in these days of water and air-borne pollution, toxic chemicals, heavy metals and poor dietary and exercise habits, the therapeutic internal cleansing of regular sweating is important in maintaining a healthy body and mind.
Some of the many benefits of taking a sauna includes the following: lower blood pressure, pain relief, speed healing of sprains, strains, bursitis, peripheral vascular diseases, arthritis and muscle pain; it promotes relaxation, thereby lending a feeling of well-being, reverses aging, burns calories galore, and so much more. I've been an avid sauna enthusiast for almost 30 years. I write about my passion for infrared saunas here — Heal • Detoxify • Rejuvenate • Thrive.
There is one healthy living item that I would never be without — my personal home sauna. It’s front and center in my healthy living program. I do not want to sit in a gym sauna or a community sauna where people have been sitting and depositing their toxic residues. As you will see in more detail on my website, the Thermal Life Far Infrared Sauna is the one that I use and the only one that I recommend. Taking at least one sauna weekly, and usually it's 3-5 times weekly, year-round, is the main reason that I have never taken medication and haven’t been sick in 25 years. It heals the body, enhances vitality, reverses aging, and puts you in the pink. For more information or to order a sauna for your home or office, please visit Thermal Life Far Infrared Sauna or call the High Tech Health company, at: 800-794-5355 (US & Canada) or 303-413-8500 (International).
Alkaline Water: The body is about 75% water; our cells are about 75% water; and so is our planet earth. That’s no coincidence. Most Americans and Europeans are chronically dehydrated. We need to replenish the supply by drinking lots of purified water every day. Water keeps us hydrated, flushes out toxins, and satisfies thirst, which we often mistake for hunger. Next time you’re craving a snack, drink a glass of water with a slice of lemon or lime to make it tasty – and fill up your tank without adding a single calorie. The best drinking water is alkaline, the kind that I have been drinking for over 20 years. I use the same water for cooking, too. Visit Ionizer Plus to learn more about my water purifier and electrolyzer extraordinaire — the one I’ve used in my kitchen for almost two decades. You’ll learn about the importance of this kind of salubrious water and all the ways it will help detox, rejuvenate, and fortify your body. I would not be without my home purifying and alkalizing system. For more information or to order your own Ionizer Plus for your home or office, please visit Favorite Products or call High Tech Health, at: 800-794-5355 (US & Canada) or 303-413-8500 (International).
Expand the Love in Your Heart & Your Life

While we should all strive to be more loving year-round, this is the special month of the year when we focus the most on our relationships and the ways to let others know what they mean to us. For over 20 years, I have been a relationship counselor and mediator working with couples, singles, and families on how to create healthy, happy, and thriving relationships. In honor of Valentine’s Day this month, here are some tips to help you stay in love and enjoy being more loving. You will find loads more in my books The Joy Factor, Walking on Air, and Healthy, Happy & Radiant...at Any Age and in the special package Renew Your Life.
1. Never miss an opportunity to say, “I love you.” Saying these three special words to your partner and family members not only conveys a message, but it also creates a channel through which love can flow.
2. To enhance joy in your relationships, decide you would rather love than be right — make up quickly after a fight.
3. Always communicate the complete truth. When you hold back and keep secrets, it makes it difficult for love to keep flowing and for closeness to deepen.
4. If things are not fine for you, don’t pretend that they are peachy-keen. Holding in negative emotions and past regrets or issues will only build up resentment towards your partner and you’ll end up turning off.
5. Make your relationships ongoing and always move from strength to strength. Work on your relationship—don’t wait until the relationship stops working to spur it forward.

6. Remember the four “A’s” for happy relationships and keep them prominent as you relate to your partner, friends, family, and others: Appreciation, Affection, Acknowledgement, and Attention. Like a velvety red rose blossoms after long overdue kisses with the magic droplets of rain, we blossom and shine brightly when we are appreciated and acknowledged. Our hearts open wider when someone shows us genuine affection. And when someone pays attention to us, it warms our soul and builds a bridge between us and the other person. People seem to be in such a rush these days, living on the fast track — talking fast, eating fast, working fast, and always rushing around. I see this as a crisis of epidemic proportions, and I call it a "hurry" or "busyness" sickness. Slow down. Take time to breathe deeply and pay attention to your life, your family, and your friends. Strive to live more in the moment and be mindful of life's miracles all around you, including the special people in your life. Two of the greatest hungers of the human heart are to feel understood and to have someone (or many people) in our life who listens to us — truly listens without judgment and gives us their time, attention, and kindness. As someone once said, we were born with two ears and one mouth; maybe God was trying to tell us something.
7. Fast from online entertainment on Valentine’s Day if you are spending that day with your loved one, family, or close friends. Consider taking a technology cleanse. As a holistic lifestyle and relationship counselor, 20 percent of the people who seek my help need guidance about their technology addictions which are negatively impacting their relationships. Like a special detox diet that cuts out all processed foods for a short period of time with a promise of upgrading health, a technology cleanse (or as my clients and I say — a TC, a tech-cleanse) means that you unplug for a short time and put your focus on the things in life that matter the most – like your relationships.

You might want to take one day every two weeks or more to avoid everything with a screen. Mentally prepare for the day. Make it a day when you do not need to be plugged in work-wise. If you can go longer than a day, do it. The closeness you rediscover with family and friends, and the full attention you can give your loved ones will render longer-term benefits for all. Also consider making your bedroom a media-free zone if you are in a “couple-ship,” a word I coined almost 30 years ago. A recent Italian study showed that couples who have a TV in the bedroom have sex half as often as those who do not.

8. If you are not presently in a relationship with a partner, still treat yourself with loving kindness and honor yourself in all the ways I mentioned above. Make Valentine's Day special for you -- joyous, memorable, and wonderful. Take special care of yourself on February 14th and make it a day to remember. The most important relationship in your life is the relationship with yourself. Out of this relationship, all other relationships form. So champion high self-esteem. Take charge of your life this month. No more excuses. You must follow through on what you say you will do. And if you want to be in a "couple-ship," remember that it’s not about finding the right person; it’s about being the right person. Focus on creating a healthy, fit, fabulous, and fantastic life for yourself. Be the kind of person that you would love to be with. Strive to be flexible in your body and mind. Release hardening of your arteries and attitude. This is a perfect month to join a nutrition or fitness class that's been on your "To Do" list for ages -- such as a yoga or cooking class. These are great places to meet new friends, too. And, of course, share your loving kindness with everyone in your life. As my beautiful mom, June, always used to say to me: “The more you love, the more you’re loved, and the lovelier you become.”

Kids Will Flip for Fruits & Vegetables – Buy Three & Get a Bonus Gift

So that the children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews in our lives won’t feel left out as we all forge ahead to living healthier lives than ever before, here is another special for the month of February. If you purchase three copies of Vegetable Soup/The Fruit Bowl, you can get my Natural Remedy booklet/CD combo entitled Conquer Cold & Allergies FREE. While this book is ideal for children ages 1 – 9, many adults have secretly confessed to me that they purchased it to help them learn which fruits and veggies are the most important ones to include in their diets if vibrant health is their goal.
The winner of Disney’s iParenting Media Award, this entrancing children’s book is cleverly designed to be reversible. It features vegetables from the front to the middle, and then fruit when you turn it over. Beautiful four-color illustrations and rhyming verses introduce children to the connections between what they eat and how they look, feel, and perform. You will discover exciting new ways to help your children or the kids in your life to eat right—beginning today. Each illustration in the book has been carefully chosen to prompt interaction between the child and the reader, or between the child and the picture itself, if he or she is already reading. This entertaining text not only teaches about fresh, delicious whole foods, but also helps develop math and reading skills as the children take an active part in reading. This “we are what we eat” book is the ideal way to lay the groundwork for lifelong healthy eating habits.
To learn more about Vegetable Soup/The Fruit Bowl, please click HERE. Many people with children in their lives purchase these books by the case because they make ideal gifts to give at children’s birthday parties and also fantastic party favors for birthdays in your own home. Wayne W. Dyer, PhD, author and motivational speaker endorsed this unique book with the following words: “Our bodies are made up of the food we eat. Fruits and vegetables are God’s loving gifts to us. When we eat these foods, we create healthy, loving bodies. Vegetable Soup/The Fruit Bowl helps us, as parents and teachers, to build this awareness in our children. The choice is ours. We can improve our health by choosing to eat these precious gifts.”
To take advantage of this special offer of purchasing three copies and getting my booklet/CD combo FREE (Conquer Colds & Allergies), please call either of the numbers above. This offer ends February 28th. The kids in your life and the young at heart (ages 1-92) will definitely flip for fruits and vegetables after perusing this book.

Orgasms & Looking Younger • Impotence & Exercise • Sex Lowers Stress

Orgasms & Looking Younger: I have a feeling that this subheading jumped out and grabbed your attention. Are you interested in looking younger? You might want to enjoy more orgasms. That's right. David Weeks, a neuropsychologist at Royal Edinburgh Hospital in Scotland suggests that, "More orgasms may lead to a greater release of hormones that bolster your immune system and slow premature aging." This was in response to a 10-year study of more than 3,500 men and women. Those who looked the youngest reported far more active sex lives than the older-looking participants.
Attention All Men: Do your penis a favor and engage in regular aerobic exercise like jogging, brisk walking, hiking, or simply using a treadmill at home or the gym. Recent studies reveal that men who exercise enough to burn 200 calories a day through at least 30 minutes of aerobic activity significantly lower their chances of impotence. Here's why. Impotence often has the same cause as heart attacks: blocked arteries. Your penis can be likened to a dipstick for your arteries. If you want to keep it up and vigorous later in life, don your sneakers now.
Sex Lowers Stress: Not only does sex add to your exercise tally, it also helps lower the stress and tension in your body and reduce depression. Who's not under stress these days? And according to studies, if you are in your 50's or older, you reap even more stress-lowering, joy-boosting, and age-reversing benefits from sex as you keep your hormones active and balanced. Now I wouldn't recommend quitting your day job in order to fit in more sex, but make sure you don't remove it from your "To Do" list. In fact, give it a place of honor near or at the top of the list and then you'll be doing most of your other required activities that day that demand your attention with a smile on your face and a bounce in your step. So the next time your loved one says he/she has a headache or is too tired, show him/her this section of the newsletter and enjoy some private, pleasurable time together. There are more suggestions below on how to fit this health-enhancing activity into your busy schedule.
Creating a Healthy Sex & Love Life
For all of you lo
vers out there during this month of Valentine’s Day and those who love all things romantic, put some extra energy into spicing up your sex life. Here are some tips that I communicate in my counseling sessions with couples and in workshops for men and women. To create a healthy sex life, you must be honest with your partner about what you like and don’t like—and what you want and don’t want. Lovers must communicate. Being open to sharing your fantasies and desires is one of the best ways to keep your love life fresh and exciting. Sex can continue to be great long after the newness of a relationship has diminished.
Did you know that a man’s testosterone level is usually the highest first thing in the morning, especially if he got a good night’s sleep? If you can wake up earlier in the morning, this is a great time to enjoy each other’s company while you are still snuggling in bed or when you take a morning shower together. Just as you want your bedroom to be your peaceful and romantic sanctuary, you also want to create the best bathroom you can afford — with a soaking jet tub large enough for two and a shower with special faucets and shower heads and, if at all possible, get a steam shower system.
Most men are also more romantic than we give them credit for. Often times they just need to learn what tickles our fancy and stirs our heart; nudge them in the right direction. Gentle hints make a positive difference, too. They will surprise you with sweet gestures of romance. And always show appreciation for the romantic, loving gestures you get -- even the most simple and spontaneous ones like when he opens the car door for you, pulls out your chair as you sit down to eat, or stands up from the dining table at a restaurant when you get up to use the restroom. Positive reinforcement makes a positive difference -- an effective way to teach someone what brings you joy. If taking a leisurely stroll in a colorful, beautiful flower garden with your partner would touch your heart, bring you joy, and ignite your passion, don't assume that he or she can read your mind. Let your partner know. Honoring your wishes is a sign of respect for you and your heart's desires.
Find special times to share your romantic fantasies with your partner. Let him or her know what a memorable, romantic day or night would look like or be for you. Talk about this when you are cuddling in bed, enjoying a relaxing meal, or especially when exercising together. According to studies, during aerobic exercise, all kinds of endorphins and other mood-enhancing chemicals are released in the body that make us feel more positive, empowered, confident, compassionate, and (how cool is this?) open to new and expansive ideas. So find time to talk things over with your partner, share your romantic wishes, and let this special person know how much you love him/her and how very special he/she is to you. Be specific on what you appreciate. For example, you might say: "I love it when you bring me flowers for no reason at all; make me breakfast; let me sleep in; wash my car and keep it tuned up; massage my feet and back; surprise me with a gift certificate for a day of pampering at the spa; or plan a romantic dinner or date night all on your own - down to every detail." We all need this kind of loving kindness, attention, affection, validation, and acknowledgement. Strive to live by the Golden Rule — especially when it comes to your spouse or significant other.

Communicate honestly about sex and other feelings. It’s a sense of distance that contributes to a loss of sexual and sensual excitement. The best time to let your lover know your wants and desires is over a candlelight dinner. Chances are the conversation will result in a memorable night of loving.
The “Hot” New Way to Burn Fat

Cayenne does more than heat up your salsas and sauces; the aromatic spice fires up your internal fat-burning furnace! Archaeological evidence indicates that cayenne has been used as both food and medicine for at least 7,000 years. Now it's being "rediscovered" for its ability to help you melt away those extra pounds! The fiery fruit contains capsaicin, a valuable natural compound that's responsible for cayenne's long list of benefits, including healthy weight loss. It helps to . . .
Stimulate metabolizing fats and carbs, especially after meals. Herbalists also note that this action supports healthy blood sugar levels — a major concern for dieters.
Increase fat burning during exercise. A study in the Journal of Nutritional Science and Vitaminology reports that taking a capsaicin supplement one hour before aerobic exercise increased fat burning. It can boost your metabolism by as much as 25 percent.
Cut appetite and curb cravings — cayenne supports digestion and the absorption of nutrients from our food, which in turn helps to reduce the appetite.
I recommend taking this supplement daily — take premium, high potency capsules for a convenient, measured dose. You can even pop open a couple of capsules and sprinkle them on your soup, salad or sandwich! It you can bear it, open up a capsule or two, stir it in a glass of water, and drink it down once daily. This is what I do several times a week. I started out with one-half capsule and took two weeks to build up to two capsules at once in a glass of water. I drink this spicy beverage a few times a day and to it I add some fresh lemon juice and some E3Live. (You can learn more about E3Live above in this newsletter.)
But cayenne does more than help you cut the calories! This wonder herb is beneficial for cholesterol care, blood pressure health, cardiovascular function, and so much more. For moreinformation on cayenne, please refer to my natural remedy booklets Weight Loss, Culinary Herbs, and Herbs: Nature’s Medicine Chest. Refer to the book specials box above to see how to get these booklets FREE.
I order cayenne capsules by the case and go through a bottle every two weeks. For convenience, and because they have the best price and quality, I order cayenne through the Penn Herb Company and it’s delivered to my front door. How convenient is that? To place an order, call and talk to the friendly customer service people at: 800-523-9971 (US & Canada) or 215-632-6100 (International), both ET, M-F, 9 - 5 or visit: PennHerb.com.
Cultivate Kindness in February

As I elucidate further in my 14-title special package, Renew Your Life, and write about in my new books The Joy Factor and Walking on Air, humans are powerful spiritual beings who can create good on earth. This good isn’t usually accomplished in bold actions, but rather in modest acts of kindness and love between people. The little things do count, because they are more spontaneous and show who we truly are. Whatever measure of love and good feelings we feel at the end of our lives is equal to the love and good feelings we put out during our lives. It’s that simple.
Throughout this wonderful month of February, treat others the way you long to be treated — live by the Golden Rule, as mentioned above. This is one of the most important life lessons my mom and grandmother instilled in me growing up -- a precept by which I always live day in, day out. We all want to be appreciated, respected, validated, and loved. Be kind to one another. Acts of kindness connect our heart to the heart of another person and create bridges over which our love can travel. Sometimes these connections are anonymous and sometimes they are not. Either way, they change us. When we give of our highest selves purely out of love, our body, our heart, and our environment change, and for an instant we realize that loving and being loved is the one true human vocation. We feel connected to the love in ourselves and to the love in others.
Don’t ever underestimate the power of kindness. “Random acts of kindness” may just be a slogan, but it has caught on all around the country for a reason. Doing lovely things for others for no reason has so many rewards. In an instant, the best of our humanity and heart comes forward. Such gestures aren’t expected, but every time we seize the opportunity to perform them, we are transformed. We become, in a sense, an angel for a moment and we touch the Divine. By giving someone else pure love and joy without expecting something in return, we become twice blessed—in blessing another we also bless ourselves.
Every day presents us with hundreds of opportunities to practice kindness toward our fellow humans. Seize these moments and discover how wonderful they feel. Strive to practice kindness at least once every day during the month of February. For some suggestions, please refer to my three titles mentioned above.
I’d like to end this section with a passage from one of my favorite books, In Tune with the Infinite, by Ralph Waldo Trine: “If our hearts go out in love to all with whom we come in contact, we inspire love, and the same ennobling and warming influences of love always return to us from those in whom we inspire them …. I know of no better practice than that of a friend who continually holds himself in the attitude of mind that he continually sends out his love in the form of thought, — 'Dear everyone, I love you.' And when we realize the fact that a thought invariably produces its effect before it returns, or before it ceases, we can see how he is continually breathing out a blessing not only upon all with whom he comes in contact, but upon all the world. These same thoughts of love, moreover, tokened in various ways are continually coming to him from all quarters.”
Recipe of the Month: Rainbow Stuffed Peppers
I love to make these peppers for company. The variety of colors is just a knockout. Serves 4.
- 4 large sweet bell peppers in different colors
- 1 cup finely diced celery
- 3 ripe tomatoes, chopped
- 3 scallions, finely diced
- 1 large ripe avocado, mashed
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 cup mixed sprouts
- 1/4 cup diced jicama
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
- Season to taste with such herbs as paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne, cumin, oregano, dill, thyme, basil or any combination thereof.
- Butter lettuce
- Fresh parsley sprigs for garnish

Cut off the top of each pepper, remove the seeds and ribs, wash, dry with a paper towel and sprinkle the inside with your favorite seasonings (optional). In a bowl, mash the avocado and add in any seasonings you want to spice up this recipe. Combine all other ingredients and add to the seasoned avocado mixture. Spoon the filling into the peppers. Serve on a bed of lettuce or sprouts and garnish with fresh parsley sprigs.
Variations: When you’re in the mood for something a little spicy, drizzle the stuffed peppers with a little salsa or add a chopped jalapeno pepper. Try using some fresh corn kernels cut off the cob or fresh peas. To add some extra protein, include some beans in the mixture or sprinkled on the lettuce leaves. I often top the peppers with alfalfa and/or red clover sprouts, or green sunflower seed sprouts.
FYI: Bell Peppers
Sweet bell peppers are among the most nutrient-dense foods available. They supply impressive amounts of fiber and vitamins C and A, as well as silicon, an element that promotes beautiful hair, skin, nails, and teeth. With only 12 calories per 1/2 cup raw, they can be enjoyed raw, roasted, juiced, or added to a variety of recipes. They’re definitely a superfood and a friend to your waistline.
When I'm flying somewhere, I usually take soaked and drained almonds, sunflower seed sprouts that I harvest fresh from my kitchen, and fresh cut strips of bell peppers in red, orange, and gold color. They keep the body hydrated and are so refreshing along with other vegetables and some dip.
Excerpt from my full-color, natural-foods recipe and healthy living book Recipes for Health Bliss: Using NatureFoods & Lifestyle Choices to Rejuvenate Your Body & Life. Author, motivational speaker and publisher, Louise Hay, says about this book:
"It's the most beautiful health book on the planet."
Foods that Act as Aphrodisiacs

I’m in the process of writing a romance novel and am having lots of fun adding into the story line as much romance and sexual and sensual passion as possible. While there is much debate surrounding aphrodisiacs, the fact is that some are very effective and others may work more because we believe in them — the placebo effect. Sexual arousal is such a complex subject and it’s so difficult to isolate the conditions that bring it about. The brain is a very susceptible organ, responding to many different stimuli. The mere suggestion or reputation of something being an aphrodisiac may be enough to manufacture a response. In future newsletters, I will discuss some amazing aphrodisiacs other than foods. For this month, I’ll reveal a few foods that you might want to add to your diet to light up your fire.

• Acai Berries – These antioxidant-rich berries are known as a powerful superfood. Consumed on a daily basis, they will help boost energy and stamina, act as a gentle cleanser, flush out wastes and toxins, promote better digestion, and boost metabolism. But I have also noticed, as well as many of my friends and clients, an increase in my passion and desire when taking acai capsules daily. This is now one of my favorite aphrodisiacs to use and recommend. If you want to experience all of these benefits for yourself, select a super concentrated extract in capsule form. The one that I use and recommend (and all of my clients and friends use, too) is by Nature’s Wonderland and is available through the Penn Herb Company exclusively. This is premium grade acai. Their extract is pure energizing acai berry — and nothing else. And best of all, it’s a 4:1 extract, which means it takes a whopping 4 pounds of fruit to make just 1 pound of acai extract. I take it as a revitalizing daily tonic. I recommend one to two capsules, once daily. And if you want to see a boost in your desire and libido, take two capsules, two times daily.

Experience acai berry for yourself and discover what millions already know. To place an order for acai berry capsules (650 mg – 120 Vcaps; Item # PV92) and have them delivered to your home or office, call: 800-523-9971 (US & Canada) or 215-632-6100 (International), both ET, M-F, 8:30-5:00 or visit: PennHerb.com.
• Aniseed – This is a very popular aphrodisiac with many culinary uses. It has been used as an aphrodisiac since Greek and Roman times. They believed aniseed had special powers. Sucking on the seeds is said to increase your desire. I purchase all of my spices through PennHerb.com. Their Nature's Wonderland Premium Spices are always fresh and flavorful. To order by telephone and speak with one of their kind concierge reps, please call: 1-800-523-9971 (U.S. & Canada) or 215-632-6100 (International).

• Arginine -- The L-form (L-Arginine) is one of the 20 most common amino acids. As the building blocks of protein, amino acids are vital to our health and well-being. Studies show that it promotes heart heart, increases circulation, promotes muscle and fat metabolism, supports the effect of exercise, increases blood flow to the sex organs, and so much more. In other words, while it's also great for your heart and overall high-level wellness, you may want to use some extra as a libido booster. I take this to benefit my heart . . . in more ways than one. It's Nature's Wonderland L-Arginine capsules that I purchase from the Penn Herb Company. Here's a very special and delicious recipe, which I teach my clients how to make that I've titled Libido-Boosting Smoothie: Blend together pomegranate juice, one banana (frozen or not), a bunch of blueberries, a dash of nutmeg, and 1/8 teaspoon of the nutritional supplement L-arginine in a powder form. I take the Nature's Wonderland capsules, open up 1-2 of them and put the powder directly into my smoothie. It's one of my favorite health- and libido-boosting supplements and recipes. Experiment with the recipes. Refer to my book Recipes for Health Bliss for an entire chapter on nutritious and delicious smoothies and juices. To all of these recipes, you can add some extra L-arginine powder.
• Avocado – The Aztecs called the avocado tree “Ahuacuatil,” which means, translated, “testicle tree.” The ancients thought the fruit hanging in pairs on the tree resembled the male’s testicles. This is a delicious fruit with a sensuous texture. This luscious, sensual fruit contains vitamin B6 and is helpful in increasing male hormone production. In addition, potassium is found in avocado, which aids in regulating the female thyroid gland. A healthy thyroid is important for a robust libido level.

• Asparagus – Many foods thought to be aphrodisiacs were considered so because of their phallic shape. Asparagus, however, has more than just suggestive form. It is rich in vitamin E, a vitamin considered to stimulate production of our sex hormones and may be essential for a healthy sex life.
• Chili Peppers – A pepper’s heat comes from “capsaicin,” a chemical that stimulates our nerve endings, raises our pulse and makes us sweat. Some researchers believe that eating hot foods also triggers the release of endorphins, body chemicals that give us a natural high that is conducive to love-making. As mentioned above, I take capsules of cayenne pepper every day.

• Figs – An open fig is thought to emulate the female sex organs and traditionally thought of as a sexual stimulant. Breaking open a fig and eating it in front of a lover is a powerfully erotic act.
• Garlic – The “heat” in garlic is said to stir sexual desires. Make sure you and your partner share some together. Garlic has been used for centuries to cure everything from the common cold to heart ailments. This is a good time for moderation. Enjoy pasta with a light garlicky sauce and it can lead up to something spicy in the bedroom later.
• Pineapple – Rich in vitamin C, pineapple is used in the homeopathic treatment for impotence. Add a spear to your drink for a tasty prelude to an evening of passion.

• Red Clover Tea – Even though January was officially "National Hot Tea Month," it doesn't mean that you can't enjoy some luscious tea this month. Red Clover is a tea worth adding to your kitchen pantry. This herb has been shown to possess a large number of health benefits. While it’s available in capsule, tablets, or liquid extract, you can also find it as a dried herb that can be used to make Red Clover tea. I apply it to the skin to treat various conditions, such as insect stings and bites, rashes, and some forms of dermatitis. Drinking Red Clover tea offers many health benefits internally. I recommend it in the treatment of infection, to help lower cholesterol, to increase blood flow through the arteries, and to reduce certain types of heart disease and blood clots. Not only does it work as an excellent blood cleanser, it also contains a high amount of phytoestrogens and four types of isoflavone, which are known to simulate female hormones and the effects of estrogen.

Many of my clients tell me after drinking one to two cups daily of this salubrious tea, they feel more frisky and sensual. Herbalists and holistic medicine experts recommend drinking three cups of Red Clover tea a day as one of the best ways to treat the symptoms of menopause. I simply steep a tablespoon of dried flowers in a cup of hot water. It can be brewed and enjoyed hot or cold and sweetened to taste. It has a delicate flavor. I often mix this tea with chamomile tea for a delicious combination. Add in a drop of vanilla (see below) and you'll be delighted with the benefits -- a sensual taste to me. Please note: Red Clover tea should not be consumed if you are pregnant or breast-feeding or in conjunction with birth control pills.
Also, I encourage you to grow fresh red clover sprouts in your kitchen. These gems of nature will help you lose weight, cleanse your body, boost your energy and libido, and feel years younger. I consume them daily. It takes only 5 minutes spread out over 3-4 days (and at a cost of pennies) to grow and harvest these salubrious sprouts, and they are delicious and oh-so-good-for-you. To purchase a Sprout Starting Kit and some organic seeds, visit: HandyPantry.com. With your purchase over $75 through this top-notch company, you'll be able to get a BONUS GIFT — a FREE copy of my popular book The Curative Kitchen.

• Raspberries and Strawberries – These are the perfect foods for hand-feeding your lover. Both invite love and are described in erotic literature as fruit nipples. And both are high in vitamin C and make a sweet light dessert or prelude to a night (or day) of passion.
• Vanilla – The scent and flavor of vanilla is believed to increase lust. Add a drop of vanilla to your tea. Fill tall Champagne glasses to the rim (or fill with sparkling water or juice) and add a vanilla bean for a heady, bubbly treat. I purchase all of my spices through PennHerb.com. Their Nature's Wonderland Premium Spices are always fresh and flavorful. To order Vanilla Beans by telephone and speak with a kind concierge in their customer service department, please call: 1-800-523-9971 (U.S. & Canada) or 215-632-6100 (International).

I believe that, if presented correctly, almost any food can be an aphrodisiac. To take your favorite food to the level of an aphrodisiac, all you need to do is feed it to your partner. Often times your partner simply responds to your attention and the nurturing aspects of being fed. If you take your time, any treat can do the trick, including the Olbas Aromatherapy Massage Oil featured next.

Here's a bonus libido tip guaranteed to boost your passion and sensual side, even though it's not a food. It's an oil that you use topically called Olbas Oil. This remarkable oil is the original Swiss formula that's been sold worldwide for 100 years. It contains six natural essential oils that deliver invigorating and soothing sensations to your entire body including your nasal and bronchial area. Inhaling the vapors from a tissue sprinkled with Olbas Oil quickly stimulates and enhances the breathing passages.
When used for massage, it stimulates surface circulation and delivers comfort to tired muscles and joints. I've used and recommend this versatile oil for decades and would not be without it. If you use it to massage your sweetheart's feet, hands, back or other body parts, you will find that it just may also invigorate passion. It's one of the best-kept secret remedies that most of my clients use because of my recommendation. I purchase it from the Penn Herb Company at the following numbers. When you visit OlbasMovie.com, a 3-minute movie about my favorite line of Olbas Herbal Remedies, which I wrote about in a previous newsletter, there's no mention of its effectiveness as a libido-booster. However, I've heard from hundreds of clients and other people in my Relationship Matters workshops, lectures, and seminars that this remedy really works; Firsthand, I also know its effectiveness and piquancy. It's at the top of my list of favorite aphrodisiacs. To order Olbas Oil, and the entire line of 8 Olbas Herbal Remedy products that I've used and recommended for decades, please call: 800-523-9971 (U.S. & Canada) or 215-632-6100 (International) or visit: PennHerb.com.

Until We Meet Again Next Month
Thank you for visiting with me again this month. During this month of heart-opening thoughts, words, and actions, begin by championing your self-esteem and celebrating YOU! You are magnificent. Walt Whitman wrote, “I celebrate myself . . . and love myself.” Through inner work and all of the practices detailed in my books and in my Renew Your Life package, you can develop genuine self-esteem, self-confidence, self-respect, and self-appreciation. The next step is to go beyond your limiting beliefs and to realize your importance to yourself and to the world. Each one of us is unique and has something very special to offer. Understand that you have always done your best at any given time; now, this month, you have the opportunity to choose again. As so beautifully expressed by my dear friend, American philosopher, author, and designer, Alexandra Stoddard, "What we do today, right now, will have an accumulated effect on all our tomorrows."
Negative self-talk and self-judgment is detrimental to our bodies and sabotages our goals and dreams. At any moment, we have the choice to judge ourselves or to be kind and loving.

If you haven't read it yet, check out my article excerpt titled Turning Dreams to Reality
The parting phrase that Ellen DeGeneres offers at the end of each of her television shows is: Be kind to one another. This is one of the three phrases that I have used for decades when autographing my books.

In these five simple words, you have the secret to living joyfully and peacefully; you have the key to bringing more joy and peace into your life, especially when you combine this with smiling more often — with a smile from your heart. By honoring this succinct five-word phrase throughout this month (and the entire year of 2012), you will also enrich the quality of life of all those with whom you come in contact. In this uncomplicated and effortless way, you will bring more light into the world. This is how we can all change the world — one person at a time — cultivating a garden of kindness. It’s really so easy to do, and it begins with being kind to yourself and your immediate circle of family, friends, and business associates. They will catch the enthusiasm of kindness and pass it on. Throughout these lovely days of February, choose to be kindness personified. Make use of this newsletter, my website, and my products to help enliven and ginger up your life. I send you this bouquet of bright purple tulips to serve as a symbol of kindness and of this vibrant month ahead that's replete with possibility.
Be kind to one another,
Susan S. Jones
