Hello,

Welcome to the glorious month of February, the shortest month of the year and a perfect time to reflect on all the ways you can enrich your life and live with more heart. The name February comes from the roman festival Februa, the festival of purification, which took place on February the 15th. The name Februa came from the Latin word Februum, which means purification. I love that! Let's all take this month of February to start purifying our body, mind, and spirit.

We added almost 3,500 new subscribers to our newsletter family during January, so I would like to welcome our new members and also give a big returning welcome to all of you who have been part of our family from the start. Let’s use this month of February to keep our hearts open, our thoughts centered on kindness and love, and our resolve firm to rekindle our New Year’s resolutions to get in shape and create robust health. As you’ll see below, I am providing a variety of information to help you stay on the path of vitality and love. Many of the things you read will be heart-related – with suggestions on how to grow your heart, to heal, enhance, and upgrade your love life, and to revitalize your ticker. I also share with you my four "A's" for happy relationships, what the world's best lovers know that you'll want to know, too, and how to benefit from the healing power of kindness. One of my all-time favorite writers, English novelist Jane Austen, would probably concur with my thoughts on living with kindness and a tender heart. She beautifully communicated these words: "There is no charm equal to tenderness of the heart."

As in every issue, you will find suggestions for natural remedies that are an important part of my life and heart health along with specials of the month. Additionally, you will find many practical suggestions on getting more sunshine and vitamin D, a colorful food recipe everyone will love, how to warm your heart and body using an infrared sauna and alkaline water, and so much more. During the month of February, I keep a few vases full of bright-colored tulips, daffodils, and gerberas (three of my favorite flowers) on my kitchen counters, throughout my home, and in my office, cut from my overflowing garden. Above is a photo of one of my gardens — my tulip garden. The cheerful colors of these three flowers make me smile; they look like they are opening up to the world. When I see them each morning, throughout the day, and in the evening, they renew my courage and sense of beauty. 

Think of February as a month in which to fire up your passions — both for your romantic life, but also for your own zest and ambition. The image of the tulip bulb, which starts out furled so small, but grows into an open bloom, can serve as a reminder for the bursting forth you want to bring to this month. Place a pot of tulips, in a cheering rainbow of colors, somewhere in your home, and let their bright colors bring forward your own inner flourishing.

So often we sabotage our goals and dreams with negative thinking, poor choice of words, or simply feel unworthy of living happily, successfully, and abundantly. You are the captain of your ship, the architect of your life, and the producer, director, and star of your own movie. Decide that you are going to create an Oscar-winning movie this month and become the director of 2012. And rather than producing a melodrama of pain, heartache, and tragedy, instead choose to create a wonderful romantic adventure. Don’t put any limits on your thinking. Dream BIG!

When people ask you what you do or what’s your position in the world, proudly say: “I am the president and CEO of my body and life.” It’s up to you to become the master of your life and walk in the direction of your dreams and goals. Since it is probably chilly where you live at this time of year, unless you are south of the equator, I’ll feature healing benefits of taking infrared saunas near the top.
